Performs general planning duties with some emphasis on transportation planning, including preparing and reviewing studies, plans and reports related to the comprehensive plan, land development regulations, and land development applications. Reviews and drafts specific elements of agreements between the County and developers or other public agencies. Reviews and prepares analyses, reports, forms, and correspondence related to intergovernmental coordination and grant applications.
Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, or related field. Minimum of five years' experience in public sector transit planning. Minimum of three years’ project management or supervisory experience in land use or transportation planning. A Master's degree in a relevant field with two years’ professional experience may be considered. Valid driver's license with valid Florida driver's license within 30 days of hire. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. Must have knowledge of principles, practices, and objectives of land use and infrastructure (preferably, transportation) planning. Must be able to understand and prepare technical documents related to land use and planning, interpret relevant policy and rules, summarize information, and clearly communicate to subject matter experts and lay audiences.

Manatee County’s picturesque conservation areas are ideal for families, nature lovers and hikers. Emerson Point, Robinson Preserve and Duette parks are a handful of our scenic preserves. Manatee County also boasts several recreational parks. G.T. Bray Park is the largest of these and offers tennis, swimming, skate boarding, recreational leagues and walking trails. There are also many boat ramps located on the Manatee River, Lake Manatee, Palma Sola Bay and the Braden River.
Manatee County is also home to several higher learning institutions, including State College of Florida, New College, Ringling School of Art & Design and the University of South Florida, Sarasota-Manatee campus.
