OverviewClub & Course Context
Diamante Country Club is a private membership club located in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. The club's championship 18‑hole course (par‑72) ranges from 4,650 to 7,560 yards via seven sets of tees.
The course was designed by Ault & Clark and is recognized as one of the top courses in Arkansas. The course features SR1020 bent‑grass greens and Meyers Zoysia fairways, along with a full practice facility (driving range, short game area, putting green) with elevated tees overlooking the Ouachita Mountains.
Diamante also offers robust club amenities: tennis and pickleball courts (the latter added in 2024), swimming, fine dining in the clubhouse, and active social programming.
As Head Golf Professional at Diamante Country Club, you will lead all facets of the golf operation-retail, instruction, tournaments, staff leadership, and member relations-delivering a first‑class golfing experience for a discerning membership. You will align golf operations with the club's mission and financial goals while upholding the high standards expected of one of Arkansas's premier private clubs.
Experience Required
Qualifications & Experience
- PGA/LPGA Class A Professional or equivalent certification strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years' experience in a golf professional role, ideally preceded by experience managing or assisting in running a full golf operation.
- Experience at private clubs or upscale resort golf operations is a significant plus.
- Strong financial acumen: competence with budgeting, financial statements, cost control, forecasting.
- Proven sales and retail management experience in a pro shop environment.
- Skilled instructor with success in teaching diverse player levels (beginners through low-handicappers), and in developing junior programs.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal & written), and customer service skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and staff development capability.
- Knowledge of the Rules of Golf, handicap systems, tournaments, and golf etiquette.
- Proficiency with golf operational software (tee sheets, POS, inventory systems) and Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to work irregular hours including early mornings, weekends, and holidays during peak season.
Essential Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Golf Operations & Facility Management
- Oversee the daily operations of tee times, starters, marshals, cart operations, bag room, outside services, and pace-of-play control.
- Coordinate with the Golf Course Superintendent to schedule maintenance windows, course setups, tee placements, and best playability.
- Enforce club policies concerning dress code, rules of golf, cart usage, pace-of-play, and course etiquette.
- Ensure the practice facility, short game area, and putting greens are optimally managed for member use and instruction.
Retail & Merchandise
- Lead the golf shop operations: purchasing, inventory management, merchandising, displays, pricing strategy, vendor relationships, and special orders for members.
- Maintain a well‑curated selection of apparel, equipment, accessories, and custom orders aligned with member preferences and trends.
- Oversee POS systems, sales tracking, financial reporting, shrink control, and profitability of the shop.
- Instruction & Player Development
- Provide high‑quality individual lessons, group clinics, member‑guest instruction, junior golf programs, and adult skill development.
- Create and oversee a formal player development program to enhance member participation and retention.
- Mentor and support assistant professionals and teaching staff in curriculum development, coaching techniques, and member interactions.
Events & Tournament Management- Plan and execute the club's internal tournaments (club championships, member‑guest, leagues) as well as external outings.
- Coordinate logistics: format creation, pairings, course setup, scoring, rules, signage, registration, awards, and event promotion.
- Collaborate with other departments (F&B, marketing, events) to produce seamless experiences for members and guests.
Financial Oversight & Strategic Planning- Develop the annual golf operations budget, covering all revenue lines (greens fees, carts, instruction, shop, outside services) and expense categories.
- Monitor monthly financials versus budget; identify and implement corrective strategies as needed.
- Establish annual sales, lessons, and merchandising targets; track key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Perform scenario planning to manage revenue fluctuations during shoulder or off‑peak seasons.
Staff Leadership & Development- Hire, train, evaluate, schedule, and manage performance of all golf department staff: assistant pros, instructors, starters, marshals, cart staff, bag room, outside services.
- Build a team culture focused on exceptional member service, accountability, cooperation, and continuous improvement.
- Provide ongoing training on sales, teaching standards, etiquette, member relations, and operational duties.
Member & Guest Relations- Be visible and approachable to members; proactively engage to understand their needs and preferences.
- Field member feedback, complaints, suggestions and resolve issues diplomatically.
- Serve as a positive ambassador for Diamante in the local and regional golf community.
Other Duties & Professional Growth- Maintain required professional certification (PGA/LPGA or equivalent).
- Stay current on industry trends in instruction techniques, merchandising, technology, and operational best practices.
- Represent the club at trade shows, pro‑shops conferences, educational seminars, and local/regional professional organizations.
- Oversee compliance with safety, insurance, legal, and regulatory requirements related to golf operations.
