Description
OverviewChris Bargas Golf Club at Whitney Farms is seeking an experienced Head Golf Professional who can provide our members, guests, and public golfers with the exceptional customer service and leadership that we are known for.
CBGC at Whitney Farms is a semi-private/public, award-winning, 18-hole, championship golf course, with tee to green distances ranging from 6,534 yards to 4,713 yards. Our golfers benefit from an on-site driving range, practice green, and indoor golf simulators. In addition, our guests have the use of spacious locker rooms, the Sand Trap Grille & Bar, located in our clubhouse, as well as banquet facilities. We currently have a fleet of 84 golf carts, as well as two beverage carts for rent.
CBGC at Whitney Farms is the recipient of the
2025 CTPGA Walter Lowell Public Golf Course of the Year
CBGC at Whitney Farms currently does 35k+ rounds per year, with several members' golf tournaments, as well as independent golf outings and league play throughout the year.

Essential Responsibilities
Golf Operations Management
- Plan, promote, and direct all golf activities, and be responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of golf operations.
- Consult with the owner on golf course and practice range operation, maintenance and rules.
- Cooperate with the Course Superintendent on maintenance issues that affect golf course playability.
- Under the direction of the Men's Club president, implement and administer a system governing the start of play and the handicap system.
- Oversee golf tournaments, outings, and related events.
- Supervise the rental and use of golf carts and the maintenance of such equipment.
- Enthusiastically promote golf and golfing activities with a high-level of service; play golf with golf club members of all skill-levels to generate enthusiasm.
Financial & Asset Management
- Prepare annual and monthly budget and operating plan for golf operations; identify and present other options that will increase revenue or reduce costs while maintaining the highest quality programs and service possible for the members, guests, and golfers.
- Supervise proper charging of green fees, cart fees, merchandise, and services.
- Ensure protection of Club assets within areas of responsibility.
Pro Shop & Merchandise
- Operate and maintain a reputable golf shop and practice facility that features a range of quality merchandise and services reflective of the golfers' needs; oversee the ordering of and/or may order merchandise for proshop and provide the best selection possible within the constraints of inventory and quality limits in adherence with Club standards.
- Provide services such as club repair/gripping.
Instruction & Development
- Provide competent golf instruction and supervise teaching staff; provide age- and skill appropriate golf lessons to golfers; design and conduct golf clinics for all skill levels.
Administration, Personnel & Club Governance
- Administer, interpret and enforce all club rules and policies.
- Manage all personnel functions by developing, maintaining and evaluating personnel in effective, efficient and safe work practices.
- Ensure a safe working environment, and a positive and outgoing attitude on the part of all employees in areas of responsibility.
Qualifications & Professional Standards
- Must have advanced working knowledge of various computer software programs, including GHIN and Golf Now.
- Uphold the PGA Code of Ethics.
- Maintain a reliable and punctual work ethic and demonstrate the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Requires excellent interpersonal skills for interacting positively with staff and golfers, including the ability to strive for constant improvement while receiving constructive feedback.
