Metrowest Veterinary Associates is looking to add a compassionate and skilled Part-Time Veterinary Technician to our team.Metrowest Veterinary Associates is located in Milford, Massachusetts and looking to grow our team! We are a family oriented veterinary hospital with a large surgery area and state-of-the-art technology including digital radiography, EKG, and more. Our clients are awesome, and we are always open to hearing new ideas on how we can continue to grow and improve. Our friendly, close-knit team absolutely loves animals. We have a long-standing team who are committed to helping each other and providing great pet health care! Our staff's wellbeing is our very top priority, which is why we offer a daily hour break so everyone can catch up on paperwork and enjoy an uninterrupted lunch. Veterinary Technician
Metrowest Veterinary Associates in Milford, MA
$21.00 - $24.00 an hour (based on experience and licensure)
Desired schedule: Full day shift on every other Monday, e very Thursday 2p-6p and other shifts as needed for staff coverage
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Provide compassionate care to pet patients and their loved ones
- Obtain accurate and timely histories on patients
- Excellent client communication skills, including performing insulin demos, discussing and educating clients on vaccines, prevention, basic nutrition, relaying normal results and next steps on behalf of the DVM and be able to do new puppy/kitten communication at the first visit.
- Perform full TPR and obtain detailed histories from owners
- Obtain blood samples and place IV catheraters in canine and feline patients
- Medication administration through Subq, IV, and IM routes
- Willingness to perform blood draws and IVC with the client present
- Keep accurate medical records in accordance with hospital policy
- Perform physical assessments and record your observations
- Prepare estimates for procedures and discuss financial commitments with clients
- Explain necessary follow-up and home care instructions
- Stock clinic treatment area and exam rooms, and inform the inventory manager when supplies need to be ordered
- Care for all surgical materials and keep the operating room properly stocked and prepared for surgery

REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of two years prior experience in a veterinary hospital required
- Veterinary Technician Certification (CVT) or License (LVT) is required
- The ideal candidate will have a passion for client education and patient advocacy, be versatile, and enjoy collaboration with colleagues.
- Basic computer literacy and be able to adapt to new systems
- Be willing to learn basic front desk tasks to cover call outs and lunches.
- Must have a positive attitude and be a team player
