The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and organized engineer with knowledge of traffic engineering with the ability to apply this knowledge to provide public works services. The successful candidate should have experience leading an engineer team and technical personnel, including monitoring scheduled work, assisting with setting priorities, design and construction of traffic signals or intersection improvements.
Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent and at least three (3) years of progressively responsible professional civil engineering experience, including some experience in the specialty assignment area.
Civil engineering degree equivalency includes certification as an EIT in California and four (4) years of civil engineering related experience, OR a Bachelor's degree in a related engineering, physical science, or mathematics curriculum and three (3) years of civil engineering related experience, OR Registration as a Civil Engineer in California.
In addition to the above stated educational requirements, the Engineer IV level requires at least four (4) years of qualifying professional engineering experience. California registration as a professional engineer is also required for the Engineer IV level.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Possession and maintenance of a valid California driver license are required.
Registration as a Civil Engineer in California is required for Engineer IV
Experience in traffic control device warrant analysis and data analysis, with familiarity in MUTCD Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices
Experience in reviewing traffic control devices and traffic control plans
Additional Salary Information: Incumbents may be eligible for an educational incentive of 2.5%, 3.5%, or 5% based on completion of an Associate's, Bachelor's, or Master's degree that is not required for the classification.
