TECHNICAL: - Serves as Project Executive, Construction Materials Engineering/Project Professional on engineering and CoMET projects including project management from the beginning to the end of the project
- Completes projects and reports in a timely and accurate manner within the specified budget
- Provides mentorship and professional development to other professional, technical, clerical and support staff members
- Performs CoMET consulting activities as required on company projects, and working in unison with staff members in Austin and other offices
- Coordinates materials testing activities with subcontractors and Raba Kistner’s field staff
- Possess knowledge of the testing procedures used in a geotechnical and construction materials testing laboratory (ASTM, TxDOT, AASTHO, USCOE, etc.)
- Prepares laboratory-testing assignments on projects in accordance with the testing program
- Analyzes field data, laboratory test results, performs engineering calculations and provides required opinions/recommendations for completion of client reports
- Submits draft materials testing and forensic engineering reports for review and final reports for co-signature of assigned staff members
- Possess a competent understanding of construction plans and specifications, as well as good accepted engineering practices to be used in the review of assigned engineering reports and construction documents
- Performs field observation services in support of the CoMET activities, as well as for forensic investigations
- Assists the Austin office in expanding the scope and technological level of excellence currently provided in our engineering, environmental and construction materials services
- Is responsible for the Raba Kistner Safety program implementation and maintenance as well the Radiation Safety program for the Austin office
- Understand, adhere and participate in the Raba Kistner Health and Safety and Behavior Based Safety Programs and set a good safety example
- Other duties as assigned by Direct Report
FINANCIAL: - Reviews prebilling invoices on projects for which the engineer is assigned
- Contacts and follows up with Clients on invoicing and status of payment
- Within the first, three-month period, achieves average billing level of not less than 40 percent
MARKETING: - Serves as "sales engineer/company representative" while working with clients and professional organizations
- Responsible for the growing the Raba Kistner name and work back-log in the Austin Region
- Actively participates in specific technical and/or professional organizations as determined by Senior Vice President
LEGAL: - Immediately notifies Senior Vice President, Engineering Services and Chairman of the Board of all potential disputes that may lead to legal claims or litigation
- As requested, supports Chairman of the Board to settle disputes or defend against litigation
QUALIFICATIONS: - Possess Professional Engineer License in the State of Texas, and a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited school
- Good oral communication skills to interact with clients and staff successfully. Speaking with clarity and understanding skills are a necessity to prevent costly and time consuming problems
- Good written communication skills for preparing proposals, reports, and other engineering documents
- Presents a professional appearance to best represent the firm
- Good organizational skills to utilize firm resources efficiently and effectively
- Heavy lifting and carrying (45+ lbs) of tools and equipment
- Walking, standing, crawling, kneeling, climbing, and repeated bending as needed while working on sites
- Distinguish colors and shades of color for identification and analysis
- Ability to comply with all attendance requirements as noted in most current edition of Corporate Policy Manual
- Possess valid Texas driver’s license and meet firm’s auto insurability requirementsAbility to drive company vehicle, manage and complete all assigned jobs, efficiently and on time
WORKING CONDITIONS: - Works in a normal office environment as well as outside which is subject to varying weather conditions
- Potential exposure to movement of heavy equipment on construction sites and hazards of dangerous chemical/solvents exposure that may require proper safety procedures be followed
- Potential for exposure to noise, dust, fumes, grease and oils, radiant and electrical energy, and equipment vibration
- May work on ladders and in confined spaces
- May work protracted or irregular hours due to client needs (i.e., other than 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and/or other than Monday through Friday)
- Ability to travel to project sites and maneuver over rough and uneven terrain
- Work related responsibilities require travel out of town to Raba Kistner offices, client offices, and project locations
