Indianapolis voters and City Council have approved a new dedicated source of local funding for the transit system, which will drive a major overhaul. IndyGo, the transit agency for Indianapolis and Marion County, will be implementing a 70% increase in service, 3 new rapid transit lines, and redeploying its entire local bus network to a high frequency grid. This position will play a key role in shaping major capital projects for the transit agency. The BRT Program Director will oversee the entire IndyGo capital program, including design and construction phases for the Purple Line, Blue Line, Red Line Extensions, and other smaller on-street infrastructure projects. The BRT Program Director is responsible for the oversight of consultants and IndyGo-employed project managers.
To be successful in this role, an individual must have a detailed understanding of delivering major infrastructure projects, strong project management skills, understanding of finance and grant management, staff management skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of project stakeholders, including elected leaders. Manages a team that plans, directs, manages and oversees the activities of design and construction of BRT corridors and other local route supporting infrastructure, programs and functional areas; coordinates activities with other departments, divisions and outside agencies; and provides highly responsible and complex administration support.
Analyzes problems, identifies alternative solutions; projects the consequences of proposed actions; implements recommendations in support of the corridor projects and the Agency goals; and ensures the support and involvement of the other key IndyGo functions that are necessary to design and implement projects identified and adopted by the IndyGo Board.
Provides regular updates to IndyGo staff, stakeholders, elected leaders, and the public.
Prepare grant application and compliance documentation needed to secure funding and maintain IndyGo in good standing with funding partners.
Participates as a contributing member in Agency-wide initiatives and represents the interests of the Department; and represents project issues to the departments/divisions, the senior leadership, and the Board of Directors as well corridor stakeholders.
Develops, administers, maintains, and oversees the annual agency-wide capital program budget; provides leadership and direction to project teams in relation to their individual project scopes, schedules and
