Job Description:
Budget Title: Senior Staff Assistant (SL-3)
Salary: $57,151 - $58,193
Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences is seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to join the Division of Advising and Academic Excellence to coordinate special events and promote engagement among students, employers, and alumni. The Engagement & Events Coordinator will work closely with Decker faculty, professional staff and University-wide offices to develop and implement a schedule of events, ranging from admissions and yield initiatives to employer and alumni events, Commencement, and more.
The Engagement & Events Coordinator will:
- Strategically promote diverse opportunities (events, scholarships, internships, awards, jobs, professional development, etc.) for students, faculty, and staff via newsletters, social media, and other creative platforms
- Engage Decker alumni, faculty, staff, and students in University-wide, Decker-specific, and community events and initiatives to foster connections and involvement
- Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and supervise the Decker student ambassador team to effectively represent Decker's values and goals
- Provide guidance and support to Decker student groups, leaders, and the nursing living and learning community for their development and success
- In collaboration with advising staff and campus-partners, plan and implement impactful events:
- Decker Q&A sessions and tours for prospective students, families, alumni, campus partners, and community members
- Decker-specific events related to University initiatives (including homecoming, family weekend, de-stress events)
- Decker Commencement activities
- Admissions/yield events
- Develop and facilitate Decker-specific career initiatives, including employer visits in collaboration with the University's career services team
- Provide career resources for Decker students such as resource guides, workshops, résumé assistance, and career advising
- Ensure students are aware of campus and community resources for their academic, personal, and professional needs
- Maintain a comprehensive database of student experiences, including research opportunities, study abroad, internships, jobs, scholarships, and tuition assistance programs
- Solicit and manage financial and material donations (e.g., assessment kit sponsorships, uniform donations, professional clothing closet donations) to maximize student resources
- Maintain the Decker Student, Career, and Alumni Connections webpage
- Routinely respond to email inquiries in the [email protected] account.
- Create and maintain internal and public calendars of Decker's cyclical events for efficient organization and public engagement.
- Develop and propose a budget for Decker events and promotional items to ensure effective resource allocation.
- Produce and submit weekly and annual reports to evaluate the performance and impact of undertaken initiatives
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to create and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Written and oral communication skills
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Knowledge of the pre-health, health science industry
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience with public speaking
- Demonstrated experience working cooperatively and collaboratively with individuals with diverse backgrounds
- Experience with Google Suite, Canva, Zoom, and/or other similar platforms
Preferred:
- Master's degree
- Professional experience in career/employer services, student engagement, alumni affairs, or related functional area
- Experience supervising professional or student staff
- Knowledge of Handshake, Banner, or other University alumni/career systems
